Per la storia di un Monte di Pietà marchigiano: gli statuti di Recanati del 1507

Abstract

Il contributo prende in esame la seconda redazione statutaria del Monte di Pietà di Recanati contenuta nelle Riformanze del 1507, conservate presso l'Archivio Storico Comunale di Recanati (MC). Per evidenziare l’evoluzione del Monte si premette una breve sintesi del contenuto degli statuti posta poi a confronto con quelli delle origini (presenti nelle Riformanze del 1468). Le novità più rilevanti che emergono riguardano la modalità di elezione dell'ufficiale e il tentativo di migliorare la gestione da parte del Comune il quale si serve del Monte per far fronte ad alcune spese. La redazione delle norme del 1507 ha l’obiettivo di fornire al Monte un assetto più solido, pur non modificando l’elargizione di prestito sine merito che lo caratterizza fin dalle origini.

 The article analyses the second version of the statutes regulating the Monte di Pietà in Recanati (MC), which are inserted in the Riformanze of 1507, preserved in the city historical archives. In order to highlight the evolution of the Monte, a summary of their contents is provided, comparing them with those of the first version, issued when the Monte had been founded and inserted in the Reformanze of the year 1468. The most relevant innovations concern the procedure of the election of the officers of the Monte and the attempt to improve its management, in front of the danger that the Commune uses its capital for different aims. The statutes of 1507clearly aim at giving to the Monte a more solid structure, without giving up loans sine merito, that characterized the institution in Recanati since its beginnings.
