‘Renart falconiere’ e ‘Renart e Tardif’: i riti di predazione nel Roman de Renart

Mara Calloni

Abstract

This article proposes the analysis of Renart fauconnier and Renart et Tardif, two episodes included in Branch 11 of the Roman de Renart. In these episodes Renart achieves the moral and material qualities to become a real knight. The fox turns into a hero through a comic initiation, which is the parody of the clichés of the chivalrous rituals, such as the theft of horses and weapons, the practice of falconry and the duel. The study aims to demonstrate how deeply these episodes change the narrative structures of the Second Section of Branch 11. This could lead to the conclusion that the Second Section of the Branch has actually been composed in a different time.
