Abstract


The article examines the varying educational proposals implemented in subjects linked to management of culture and heritage, within the degree title of Tourism offered by the University of Oviedo. It takes a historical perspective as its starting point, and considers the importance that public policy has had in the promotion of tourism, linked to the promotion of Spain’s rich cultural heritage, since the dawn of the 20th century.

It also takes into account the need to offer an education to students within the new degree title that incorporates both the management and interpretation of tourism resources linked to heritage. The study goes on to analyse the different proposals offered by the museums and foremost landmarks of the city of Oviedo for the interpretation of their funds and collections, and the manner of applying these proposals to the educational needs in the Practicum area of the aforementioned subjects.
